Roger Phelps of Ojai, CA took first place with his 49.6-pound yellowfin. Dick Schaffer of Purfield's Pro Tackle in Los Angeles was second with his 48-pound yellowfin. Tom Thompson of Los Alamitos was third for his 47.6-pound yellowfin.

Kevin "Never Seen a Sardine I Didn't Like" Nyugen with a nice yellowfin. We never went wide open on the tuna but it was nice to see one come to the gaff every once in awhile

Phil Bruce of Ramona won first place, for a 105-pound yellowfin. He said he got it with a sardine on a 2/0 ringed Super Mutu hook, 40-pound P-Line and 40-pound fluorocarbon leader, a Cal Sheets-treated Penn 12 T reel and a Seeker 660 rod.

Supreme regular Dietmar Kruger of Santa Monica was second, for an 87-pounder he got on 40-pound line.

Mike Casey with his Wahoo and Yellowfin which took the the jackpot honors. Jeff Bochesay was second, and posed with his 87-pound tuna.

Matt Morrison of Westlake won first place for a 60.2-pound yellowfin. Robert Pletka of Murietta was second, for a 60-pounder. Dan Morrison of Ft. Lauderdale, FL was third, for a 59-pound yellowfin tuna. Brett Goldberg of Westlake Village got a 32.6-pound wahoo. Ace Neely of Lancaster caught a 27-pound dorado.

Frank Olachia of Westminster won first place and the high roller jackpot for the best fish not caught on the kite. He got a 66.2-pound yellowfin with a sardine on a 2/0 Gorilla hook and 40-pound Izorline. He said he used a Pro Gear Yellowtail Special reel and a Calstar custom 765 L rod wrapped by The Rusty Hook. Store owner and chartermaster Alex Masumoto did the award honors. Way to go Frank!!

Frank Olachia took 1st place with a 66.2 lb yellowfin. Jerry Newman of Minifee won second place for a 64.4-pounder. John Pollock of Huntington Beach took third place for a 63.8-pound Guadalupe yellowfin tuna.

Steve Takagi was the winner with his 91.4 yellowfin tuna. Peter Putt of San Jose tied with Craig Morimoto of San Jose for second place with a 65.4-pound yellowfin tuna. Doug Inouye of Santa Clara caught a 49.2-pound albacore, second-largest so far

Tom Machado of Newman won first place for a 71-pound tuna. James Zavas of Redding was second, for a 69.8-pounder. Lee Ward of Anderson won third place, for a 64-pound Guadalupe Yellowfin tuna.

Eleven-year-old Bryan Kitahara of Placentia won first place and the trolling jackpot. He got a 63.6-pound yellowfin on a sardine, a 2/0 ringed Super Mutu hook and 40-pound clear Izorline to take the top spot. He used a TLD 20 reel and a Calstar 765 L rod. Bryan won the trolling jackpot for a 39.3-pound albacore. He goes to Brookhaven Elementary School, and got his dad Terry to help him display the fish.

Eleven-year-old Bryan Kitahara of Placentia won first place and the trolling jackpot with his 63.6 Yellowfin. Rooster regular Bob Michener of Oxnard was second, for a 63.2-pound tuna. Tom Clark of Thousand Oaks was third, for a 63-pound yellowfin tuna.

Norman Plott of Ojai caught the whopper of the trip with a 70lb Yellowfin. Original Chartermaster, grandfather and ???Living Legend??? A.C. Barnett, of Ojai, bagged a 67.4-pound yellowfin
