Mike Hautz of San Bernadino won first place for a 54.6-pound yellowfin. He got it in 20 minutes, after being nearly spooled, he said. He fished a sardine on a 3/0 Mustad hook, with Maxima green 40-pound line on a Penn 555 reel and a Seeker Black Steel 6470

Steve Howard of Point Loma won first place, for a 54.4-pound yellowfin tuna. Tim Nolan was second and third, for yellowfin of 53 and 50 pounds. Rich Vandenoord of La Jolla posed with the winners and his best of the season albacore, a lunker that weighed in at 44 pounds even.

The big fish weighed 107 pounds when Billy weighed it on the certified scales. It was caught by Okuma California sales manager Rick Zimmerman. He said he bagged it with a sardine on a 4/0 Eagle Claw hook, 40-pound DAM line on an Okuma Titus Gold 10S reel and an Okuma Caltalina seven foot, MH rod.

Tyler battled this tough fish like a pro. After a long strugle Tyler got the upperhand on what turned out to be a nice yellowfin tuna. A couple more cranks and its ready for the gaff.

Frank McGuire won first place for a 111.5-pound tuna. Jason Marquette of San Diego was second, for a 90.7-pounder, and Andy Lam was third, for a 83.8-pound yellowfin tuna. Chartermistress Jan Howard wasn???t in the jackpot, but she had a 106-pound tuna, so she stood in with the winners for a lineup shot.
