Stanley Wong of San Jose won first place for an 89.8-pound yellowfin. Jesse Lara of Sunnyvale was second, for a 68.8-pounder. Chris Reid of Cedar City, UT was third, for a 62-pound yellowfin tuna.

Dan Spiegel of Venice Beach won first place for a 60-pound yellowfin. James Hasselberg won second place for a 58-pound tuna. David Kitchens of Henderson, NV was third, for a 57.5-pound yellowfin.

Tim Wilson of San Diego caught a 103-pounder that he tricked with a sardine on the kite. He used the boat???s rig.

Colin Nakano of Torrance won first place, for a 105-pound tuna he bagged with a sardine on a 4/0 Super Mutu hook on 60-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon leader. He said he fished with 80-pound Izorline Spectra, a Trinidad 40 reel and a Calstar 700 XH rod.

The jackpot winners were Mark Malone with a 71-pound Yellowfin Tuna, Pat Noll for a 70-pounder. Aaron Carvey for a 68.5-pound yellowfin.

Mike Mullen of Woodland Hills won the jackpot with a 70lb Yellowfin. Ed Furu was second, and Rick Julian of Chino Hills was third in the jackpot.

Ken Crow of Medford, OR hooked the biggest tuna of the trip. But it was not eligble since several people helped reel it in.

Chuck Lowe of Minden NV won first place, for a 96-pound yellowfin. Robert Shaw of West Hills was second, for a 76.2-pounder. Jeff Baloun of Melbourne Beach, FL won third place for a 76-pound tuna. Jim Kasstorff of San Diego, got a 41-pound wahoo on a mackerel bait. Craig Herron of La Habra Heights, caught a 42-pound yellowtail.

The biggest tuna, an 86-pounder, came to Daniele ???Sarge??? Sancisi of Hermosa Beach.

Tony Yee of San Jose won first place, for a 100-pound yellowfin.

Matt Wheaton of Laguna Beach won first place, for a 57.8-pound tuna. Alan Romspert of Fullerton caught a 56.8-pound tuna, and tied for second place with Bruce Chisholm of Temecula. Floyd Spangler of Anaheim stood in with the winners in a lineup shot with his 35-pound yellowtail.

It was the David Samarin of La Habra Heights who won first place for a 109.5-pound yellowfin he caught on an Accurate spinning reel, a 30, and a Calstar 700 XH spinning rod. To the best of this reporter???s knowledge, it was the first such tuna ever brought in to San Diego caught on a sport boat with spinning gear.
